4J's SPORTS/Fred Spencer
Fred Spencer is the Founder of 4J's Sports and former director and coach of the Riverview Hurricanes, a top-flight American Athletics Union (AAU) basketball program. A former Division I basketball player, he has lead the Hurricanes for nearly four years. He has created the movement as a way to help young men become better people, not just players.
A 501C-3 Corporation, 4J's Sports is an extracurricular activity Spencer started back in the early 2000's in addition to his duties with the Boys and Girls club. It started out as way to develop players. From humble beginnings, Spencer's teams have emerged as some of the better AAU squads in the nation. What the players do on top of games is more impressive. Spencer makes his players sign a contract, which requires them to maintain a 2.75 GPA in school and 25 hours of community college during the season.
The organization has hosted community fundraisers and car washes and have also volunteered with the Gasparilla festival, Metropolitan Ministries, the YMCA and the March of Dimes. In addition, Spencer has also promoted an anti-bullying initiative which equips players with skills to identify bullied students and use them to help connect class mates between different social groups at school.
With the sacrifice has come reward on and off the court.

Fred Spencer
Hello
A former professional basketball player who played in Vigo, Spain, and a graduate of Springfield College. Spencer played college basketball at Chipola Jr. College in Marianna, Florida, and Troy University in Troy, Alabama and is now a business professional and educator.
Fred was teased from elementary to late middle school because of his poor reading and writing abilities. However, he grew in stature to become 6'6", which helped him become a prominent basketball team member and liberated him from insults and criticism. As a college athlete, he was diagnosed with dyslexia, but he felt he received the necessary assistance because he was a student-athlete, which helped him overcome the condition. Basketball helped him accept his limitations.
Now, he is a leader and influencer in his community and for his student-athletes. He has developed the Anti-Bullying Through Sports concept and is pleased to present it to you.
